Our Favorite Place

Without a doubt, our favorite place to hang out is Central Park. It feels like Disney World minus the rides. We enter on 96th Street, which is in the northern 1/3 of the park. The entire park spans 51 city blocks from north to south...big place.

On any given summer day in Central Park, you will most certainly see the following:

*People jogging, sometimes in shoes, sometimes barefoot-why, I'm not sure-looks painful to me

*People biking

*People rollerblading

*People tanning (more on this another time)

*People walking babies in strollers-lots and lots of babies in this city

*People walking their dogs-lots and lots of dogs in this city

You can also find lakes, ponds, skating rinks, museums, playgrounds, gardens, sports fields, even a zoo and a working carousel. Quite a place.

The girls love to take a picnic lunch and stay for hours, exploring the "woods" as they call them.  They climb rocks, trees, bridges, anything that's climbable. They take pictures of birds and squirrels and strange looking leaves. They throw rocks in the water and make necklaces out of clover flowers. Good old-fashioned fun, and it's completely free. Well, except for the fair amount of tax dollars we're paying. At least there's no question that those dollars are being well-spent. Having a clean, beautiful, endless park just a block away...that's priceless.

  3. Love Central Park one of our favorite places in the city. I can not wait for the boys to be able to explore the park someday. I am so happy you have such a wonderful place to spend time as a family.
